Cub picnic, Activity days camp & racquetball

Our Cub Scout summer picnic was a huge hit this year. Instead of a BBQ as in years past, we met for pizza followed by bottle rockets and slides in the park. I didn't know it at the time but this was my last activity as Cub Committee Chairman. I was released just a couple of weeks later.

Broken tooth

Luke fell in the shower and broke is front tooth. Poor little guy!

We saved the piece of tooth in hopes that it could be reattached but it wasn't a complete piece, so we couldn't use it.

 Dr. Curtis said that Luke was fortunate to not hit the nerve in his tooth. Then he worked his magic...

 And thankfully, Luke's tooth is as good as new again!

My father-in-law told me that when he chipped his front tooth years ago at age 9, they tried to fill it in but when the filling came out after a giant sneeze, they pulled his tooth! I'm so grateful for modern dentistry (and so is Luke).

Scout camp

Our boys went to scout camp together this year. It was easier to send Benjamin off on his first week-long camp knowing that his older brother was there with him.

 All reports about camp were positive. It was especially cool to have their cousin in the camp right next to them.

Backyard changes

The deck in our backyard was crumbling so we decided to make some changes before one of our small family members fell through. Here is our before picture;

 I was so happy to see the deck go. It wasn't safe and I didn't like the space under our deck.

 I was sad to see one of our bushes go.

 I admit that I was a bit worried at this point. 

 Then it started to take shape and I started to feel better.

 So much better!

 The finished project. We love our built in BBQ and the extra space for patio furniture someday.

 Hooray for completed projects (except for the railing but that will be done soon)!
